The camera I've used for many of the shots on here. The MTL 5's were produced from 1983 to 1985 by VEB Pentacon, in Dresden when that part of Germany was considered the German Democratic Republic. I've had mine for about two years now, and even though it's rather antiquated by today's standards (even compared to my Praktica B-cameras), it does everyhing a manual SLR should without complaint, and despite the limits of the photographer. Left out the lower part of the lens to hide the tripod better.

Praktica B100, Kodak 200UC.
Cropped, converted to b/w.

Heya

Thanks for adding my deviation. Its nice to see someone else still using an MTL 5 :) - I have an MTL 3 somewhere, too but its not working too well. Got both of them of my Granded who had them from new, so they've certainly had some use!

Prakticas are fine cameras, simple and reliable. And these days, very inexpensive. :)
I switch out between the MTL 5, a TL 5B, and a BC 1.
I'm sure my brother had one of them, the year seems about right aswell as he got it for a birthday present at sametime as he joined airforce.

It got used in some air to air shots as I remember.
Does he still have it? I almost want to be suprised at how well they still work today.
Curently I'm using a TL5 B (same basic camera, with minor internal changes) while I'm in the Middle East, along with the digital I've been using for Firearms and Devices.

Not sure, probably, my parents have tons of cameras, both 35mm and digital slr, next on the list is that monster EOS 1DS apparently.
