So after years of being gone, I'm finally back out in the DC area.  I was really looking to get back out to Otakon this year, this weekend in fact.  But after the last some years of con experience away from the mega-cons like this have really changed my view on it all.  I kinda don't care now.

Out of all the different events, Comic World spoiled me to be sure. :D

Who knows, maybe I'll get up there for part of a day.

It's been a while.  But then I've been staying busy.

This past year has been interesting, entertaining, and no matter what it was never dull.

I have tons of photos I still need to go through, and eventually will.

So, how have you been?

Nothing reminds you to back up anything and everything when you install or update it on your computer like having your hard drive crash.  It's also what I get for not being a faithful member of The Cult Of Obsessive Back-Ups.

So at the very least, here's hoping I have copies of everything from before the move, to when it all arrived here, roughly a few months of photos, documents, and music files.  As for anything between last November and two weeks ago, yeah...

If the God of Technology feels merciful, I'll be able to recover most of it.  But for now, I have a 500GB hybrid doing the dance, uploading files from a set of recovery disks.

But the real joy comes after installing a few more programs, and making all the little changes to set it up the way I like: Uploading and adjusting over 9K music files.

Nuke me slowly.

For anyone in the Houston area, get yourself out to the Southern Backtones CD release party on Saturday, February 11, at The Capitol, 705 Main Street.

This is the fourth album from Southern Backtones, and about damn time!  "La Vie En Noir" carries on the stylistic brand of Third Coast rock, "whatever-billy", voodoo-rock sounds that ran through the three previous albums, which has been described as a mix of David Bowie with Echo And The Bunnymen, yet never becomes stale or played out the way so many pop bands do.

Would go myself, but the drive from South Korea to Texas is a bit long.

Seoul Comic World 107 runs this weekend at SETEC!  I completely forgot about this until someone at work asked me when it was coming up.  So much for other plans, but still not sure if I'll attend both days this time, big maybe, and cosplay plans are on hold for now until I can source out a few items for them.

So there you have it, what to do this weekend if you're within at least a 100 mile radius of Houston, Texas, or anywhere between the 36th and 38th parallel in South Korea.

Ah, yes, forgetting about this as I run all over the place, camera in hand, and a T-Money card in the wallet.  I will eventually get around to posting again, and that's after going through photos back to October.  Or September, or before that.

Anyways!  Seollol  (Lunar New Year), is today, Jan 23 (yes, I see dA still thinks I'm in another part of the world).  Depending on what I find in the news papers, I just might go check out any events happening for the holiday.  So for everyone in Korea; Sae-hae Bok Man-yee Bab e Sae You!

Part of living in a foreign country involves learning about as much of the customs and culture as possible.  While in Germany, this meant... yeah, let's stop there, as it would take too long to explain it all. *ahem*
So the most recent custom I learned about yesterday would fall under "Meeting and Greeting People" I suppose, specifically for potential relationships:

Korean girls will throw an electric heater at a guy they want to meet, followed with entering her phone number in his cell, and drinking together.

I hope you found this educational, and helps in understanding other cultures.

Other stuff, lessee...

The best Christmas present, ever! arrived soon after the holidays in the form of home made cookies, and bottles of Koestritzer and Winterbier!  Vielen Dank zu Ihnen Mary!

Koestritzer.  The best beer in Germany is now the best beer in Korea.  :D

After 131 years of image making history, Kodak has filed for bankruptcy, and will attempt to become competitive by focusing on digital and commercial printing, as well as selling off thousands of patents and suing manufacturers for possible patent infringement (Apple, HTC, Samsung).
Here's one thing Kodak can do to help stop the financial hemorrhaging: FIRE THE CEO responsible for this nose dive, cancel his pay and bonuses, and investigate him with regards to this being INTENTIONAL destruction of the corporation!  Also, sack everyone responsible for your miserable customer service, causing more businesses and consumers to go to Fuji.
And if anyone out there wants to really have something to be worried about, look up his current administration position, and expect more of his failure on a national level.

That's about it for now, good night everybody!
